Our Physiotherapy MOT. Physio designed to support patients if they feel their bodies are functioning below par.
The Welwyn and Hatfield Practice’s new ‘physical MOT’ test is one the first of its kind, offering a valuable way of determining and correcting problems before they become serious.
“With most of us leading sedentary lives we use only approximately 60 per cent of the available range of motion in most joints such as our hips, knees, shoulders and spine,” Ian Norman, director of the Welwyn & Hatfield Practice
“Add the ageing process !! lack of use and supportive exercise , and one day you find you simply cant move due to pain and stiffness. Inactivity generally leads to overstrain and often pain”
“It’s important to identify bad postural habits and mechanical distortions as early as possible, this will really help to prevent irreversible degenerative changes which lead to chronic analgesic use, steroid injections and in the end a visit to the orthopaedic surgeon. It is really a case that prevention is better than cure” Mr Norman continued.
After conducting a series of tests, which look for developing problems in balance, walking pattern and range of joint movement, the clinic provides advice on simple interventions that can help to correct any problems.
recommendations may include physiotherapy, osteopathy , acupuncture, Pilate’s, a gym routine, a podiatrist consultation to improve lower limb movement, or a visit to a dietitians or nutritionist for advice on weight loss or sport nutrition.
The Welwyn and Hatfield Practice is offering the health check for anyone who is interested in their future health and suggests that anyone who has ever suffered from a back problem, had an accident, even if it was years ago, or works regularly on a computer could benefit.
