Ian Norman

Osteopath, BSc.Ost. Hon. Medical Acupuncturist

Ian Norman Osteopath at the Hatfield Practice, Hatfield, Herts

What I do

Qualified from

Ian Norman graduated in the 1990s from the  British School of Osteopathy, gaining an Honours degree in Osteopathy.

Working Background

Ian explains, “I try to use empowering approaches and always try to tackle pain problems positively. We often go the extra mile to exceed our patient’s expectations; to us, patient experience is everything. When you visit the Hatfield Practice, you will first notice a genuinely friendly atmosphere. We do our best to be professional yet caring and personal”. Ian is very “hands-on” with his treatments. Most of our patients are referred by their GP, friends or specialist on a recommendation.

Ian aims to treat people from a mind, body and spirit perspective. He enjoys treating” non-resolving” pain conditions where people have just given up or are used to so much pain. “You must try harder, concentrate more and learn to think laterally by understanding your patient. The key, I feel, is to listen to people.

Helping patients back to health is what we do best. We always try our hardest and approach treatment educating and encouragingly. “Ian Norman mentioned that “unrelated problems often keep us from getting better and reaching our potential. Thinking around and resolving pain is the heart of our Osteopathic approach.

Ian Norman has a personal interest and enjoys treating sports-related injuries; he worked pitchside at Twickenham rugby stadium and various national sporting events. Ian tries to focus on the whole person, not just the presenting symptoms and has his unique style of sports neuromuscular-release treatment”.

Hatfield Practice in Hertfordshire works with GPs and health specialists treating workplace/medico-legal injuries. Ian Norman enjoys resolving staff injury problems such as repetitive and non-resolving conditions that leave people off work for long periods. I think “prevention is better than cure”. Ian also worked with the RAF and aerospace sector for many years, advising on ergonomics and treating workplace injuries. It was challenging but great fun. Ian has also worked as an Osteopath within the NHS and private health care clinics.

Ian Norman is happy to give talks to groups and individuals to encourage, educate, and use simple terms to help employees understand why injuries happen and how they can guard against them. Feedback suggests these workshops can increase understanding and reduce the risk of injuries. Ian, Helen, our Acupuncturist, has six grown-up children and laughter lines as proof. Ian and Helen have been involved in health care for over 30 years.
